mystery" ~ S.A. Stevens, Soundroots/ Spin the Globe - 11/26/08 "When Linda starts playing the [accordion], she emanates a calm, serene vibe...mesmerizing" ~ Laura Casey, Oakland Tribune/Contra Costa Times/San Jose Mercury News, 11/19/09 "Top 10 World Music Albums, December 2008" ~ Soundroots/ Spin the Globe for "Luna Nueva" CD "Tara Linda's rich sultry vocal pays wonderful homage to the legend, Lydia Mendoza [and]...her love for this music is evident in her passionate delivery.... The result is a swirling blend where the European folk elements and Latin rhythms create a sound that is at once familiar and exotic." ~ Don Secheiski, The Muse's Muse, 12/20/08. "Refreshingly unique." ~ Clay Edwards, President, Hohner, Inc. ~ "rich vocals"..... "El Diabolito y Su Accordion is rich with dust blown, atmospheric menace" 8 out of 10 ~ Americana UK - 1/09 "voice is like a cool glass of water, and her soulful cabaret is the perfect soundtrack to a lazy afternoon....the kind where you fall asleep in the grass and find yourself in the middle of bizarre circus dreams, and you're not quite sure if that lovely accordion wielding siren is coming to save you or poison you, but you can't help but want her to come closer...." ~ Val Esway, Soup and Song 8/1/06 ~ ~ CD Baby Editor's Choice for Jazzy Blues, 5/5 stars, January, 2007 ~ "Tara sang some incredible jazz tunes that were mesmerizing. What hit both of us right through our corazon was her
rendition of Mal
Hombre by Lydia Mendoza. There is only one other performer who pierces right through the soul with her music- Lila Downs. Tara has that unique quality about her voice- Te destroza el corazon- and leaves you wondering what the hell just happened. I truly recommend checking out her performances...." ~ Gilbert Reyes, Reyes Accordions Forum, September 17, 2006 ~ {Note: as a result of this performance and a shared musical interest, Gilbert Reyes & Layo Jimenez later joined with Tara Linda to form "Luna Nueva" for Tara Linda's latest album, "New Moon"} Live Radio Performances & Interviews KALX 90.7 Berkeley |KPFA FM 94.1 Berkeley | KMUD 91.1 Garberville | 88.3 | 88.5 | 90.3 KHSU- FM 09.5 Arcata | KHSR-FM 91.9 Crescent City-Brookings | 88.7 FM Ferndale-Fortuna | 89.7 FM Garberville | 99.7 FM Willow Creek | KBBF 89.1 Santa Rosa | KSYM 90.1 San Antonio | |

Tara
Linda is a former punk rock drummer who gave up the sticks, at least
for now, for the accordion. When Linda, a Hohner-endorsed button
accordion player, starts playing the instrument, she emanates a calm,
serene vibe. She squeezes out mesmerizing desert cabaret [and] sings to
the rhythms she creates...She is also currently recording a "tortilla
western" album, one that blends spaghetti western, indie and Tex-Mex
styles. full article |
